Victron lifts DC-DC output to 70A
Victron Energy has added several products to its mobile and off-grid range, including a higher-output DC-DC charger, a drop-in lithium battery and new monitoring options aimed at auto electricians and 4WD outfitters.
Orion XS 12/12-70A
The Orion XS 12/12-70A DC-DC charger delivers up to 70A, or 1000W, of continuous charge current for auxiliary lithium or lead-acid batteries. It is designed for vehicles with Euro 5 and Euro 6 smart alternators, which can supply too low a voltage to fully charge a service battery.
Victron rates its efficiency at 98.5%, which it says reduces heat generation. The unit keeps the same compact aluminium Orion XS housing as the existing 50A model, making it suited to under-seat, behind-trim and tub installs. It carries an IP20 rating.
Installers should check alternator capacity before fitting, with distributor guidance recommending an alternator of at least 140A for the 70A unit.
Lithium SuperPack NG
The Lithium SuperPack NG is a LiFePO4 battery with an integrated BMS, designed as a drop-in replacement for lead-acid batteries. With the BMS built in, no external BMS wiring is needed. It also has integrated heating for charging in sub-zero temperatures and an on/off switch for storage.
The range covers 12.8V, 25.6V and 51.2V models with 100Ah or 200Ah capacities. Each can be monitored and configured through the VictronConnect app.
Ekrano GX and GlobalLink 530
The Ekrano GX is a touchscreen display for system control and monitoring, with VE.Can, VE.Direct and USB connectivity.
The GlobalLink 530 gateway uses 4G LTE with 2G fallback to connect Victron equipment to the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal without needing Wi-Fi. It includes a five year prepaid SIM and connects up to two VE.Direct devices plus Victron Bluetooth products. Retropower says this allows workshops to help customers with remote diagnostics on fleet vehicles and touring rigs.
