Supercheap Auto opens first Generation 5 store with in-store 12V fitment
Supercheap Auto has opened its first Generation 5 store at Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, and it’s the first in the network to offer professional 12V installation on site.
The new format brings 15 new brands, almost 1,000 new products and hands-on customer experience bays. Customers can now have spotlights, dashcams, towing mirrors, cameras and UHF radios fitted to their vehicles at the store.
Maroochydore is the first of 80 Generation 5 stores Supercheap Auto plans to roll out over five years. It’s also the national pilot site for auto electrical fitment.
The move puts one of the country’s largest auto retailers into 12V fitment work that has traditionally gone to auto electricians and accessory fitters.
Supercheap Auto Managing Director Ben McConnell said the Sunshine Coast was chosen because of strong demand from car enthusiasts, adventure drivers and everyday motorists in a growing region.
“We know how passionate our customers on the Sunshine Coast are about taking care of their cars and kitting out their 4WDs and utes with the brands they love,” he said.
“We are excited to now be able to offer them an even greater range of products with professional auto electrical installation from their local Supercheap Auto team.”
Mr McConnell said the format was central to the company’s growth plans, particularly in 4WD.
“This new format store will help us stock an even wider range of brands and products our customers want, particularly in the 4WD category,” he said.
“The professional 12V electrical fitment trial will mean we can now fit equipment such as dashcams, towing mirrors and UHF radios, delivering customers both expert support and convenience.”
Customers book fitment in store. They get a consultation and a quote before buying the product and booking an installation time.
