Leadership pathways for women in automotive
Auto Women has partnered with Performastery Leadership Facilitation to offer two leadership programs designed for women working in automotive and other traditionally male-dominated industries.
The programs, under the Leaders Unleashed banner, cover career stages from first-time supervisor through to executive level.
Leaders Unleashed: Sprint Hurdles is a 16-week program for emerging leaders, supervisors and people stepping into leadership for the first time. It covers leadership confidence, communication, emotional intelligence, leadership presence and practical people leadership skills.
Leaders Unleashed: Ascension is an 11-week program for experienced leaders preparing for senior strategic or executive roles. It focuses on executive influence, strategic leadership, decision-making and organisational thinking.
Auto Women co-founder Kellie Dewar said few leadership programs were designed around the experiences of women in male-dominated industries. She said encouraging women into automotive wasn’t enough on its own. The industry also needed to support them to stay, grow and lead.
“Investing in women is an investment in the future of automotive,” she said.
Performastery Director Fiona Cullen said there was no shortage of capable women in the workforce, but many were more leadership-ready than they realised. She said the programs were designed to build the confidence and capability women needed to step forward into greater responsibility.
Auto Women says the programs mark the start of a long-term commitment with Performastery to develop more female leaders in automotive. The programs form part of the Auto Women Scholarships.
